Impact
At Valley Cancer Care Initiative, we believe that no one should face cancer alone. While we are a new organization, our mission is clear: to provide essential resources, financial relief, and compassionate support to cancer patients and their families in our community.
A cancer diagnosis is never planned for—it disrupts careers, strains finances, and turns daily life upside down. Many individuals find themselves juggling treatments, medical bills, and family responsibilities, all while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. We exist to help ease that burden, ensuring that those facing this unexpected journey have the support they need to focus on what matters most: healing and time with loved ones.
Stories of Impact

Beneficiary 1
Earlier this year, a patient was diagnosed with breast cancer, undergoing surgery and radiation as part of her treatment. While she is doing well medically, the journey took a financial toll. As a hospital desk clerk, she lost several months of wages while in treatment, and despite having a strong support system, the unexpected costs—including meeting her out-of-pocket maximum—created significant financial stress.
Valley Cancer Care Initiative was there to help ease the burden, allowing her to focus on healing without the added worry of mounting expenses.

Beneficiary 2
Diagnosed with GI cancer 11 months ago, they faced an unexpected medical crisis that required emergency surgery. After a challenging recovery, they were able to return part-time to their job as a gym trainer, but the financial impact was significant. With months of lost wages and out-of-pocket medical expenses reaching $8,000, they were forced to put medical bills on a credit card while working to regain stability.
It’s a story of strength, perseverance, and the reality that no one is truly prepared for the financial strain of a cancer diagnosis. Valley Cancer Care Initiative was honored to step in and provide support, helping to ease their burden so they could focus on health and healing.

Beneficiary 3
They have been fighting metastatic rectal cancer that spread to the liver, enduring nearly a year of intensive treatment, including a lobectomy. Through it all, their greatest focus has been on their three young children. However, when their spouse lost their job—and with it, their health insurance—the family was forced to pay out of pocket for COBRA coverage, adding immense financial strain to an already overwhelming situation.
Facing hardship on every front, they have struggled to keep up with the mounting costs of both treatment and daily life. Valley Cancer Care Initiative was honored to step in and provide relief, helping them focus on what matters most: family, healing, and hope.

Beneficiary 4
At just 27 years old, this patient was a dedicated public servant, with eight years of military service and two years as a firefighter. In August 2025, he was diagnosed with a rare stage IV clear cell sarcoma. Only two weeks before his diagnosis, he learned he was about to become a father.
His illness progressed rapidly, and he spent much of his remaining time hospitalized, facing complication after complication. He passed away in November 2025, leaving behind a young family and a baby on the way.
Because of the length of his service, his family did not qualify for line-of-duty death or occupational cancer benefits, and access to military benefits has been a long and complicated process. With mounting medical and living expenses during an already devastating time, the financial burden has been overwhelming.
Valley Cancer Care Initiative was honored to support the family during this period of profound loss, helping ease immediate financial strain so they could focus on grieving, healing, and caring for the newest life they welcomed.

Beneficiary 5
This patient is a 36 year old firefighter who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in August 2025. He is currently living with his mother and stepfather, who have stepped in as his full time caregivers while he undergoes treatment.
He has completed multiple rounds of chemotherapy, but the cancer has not responded as hoped. Because the tumor is too advanced to be fully removed with surgery, his doctors are now considering a stem cell transplant. The road ahead is long and uncertain, and he has been unable to work for several months, with more time away from work expected.
Although he has spent six years serving his community as a firefighter, he does not have access to the same benefits many firefighters receive. With no income and ongoing medical expenses, the financial and emotional stress has been significant.
Valley Cancer Care Initiative was honored to step in and provide support, helping ease the financial burden so he can focus on treatment, recovery, and moving forward one day at a time.

Beneficiary 6
This patient is a 29 year old firefighter diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January 2025. He underwent chemotherapy followed by radiation, completing treatment just weeks ago and beginning the process of recovery.
Although he has dedicated the last four years to public service, he narrowly missed qualifying for worker’s compensation benefits. The gap in coverage, combined with time away from work and mounting medical expenses, created significant financial stress during an already challenging year.
Recently engaged and looking ahead with optimism, he is focused on rebuilding his life, regaining strength, and moving forward after cancer treatment.
Valley Cancer Care Initiative was honored to provide support, helping ease the financial burden so he can focus on healing and embracing the next chapter ahead.
